Girls hockey at EYH

Girls have a home on our ice

Here's the important part: Try Hockey for Free and Intro to Hockey are for everyone. Girls skate right alongside the boys from the very first practice — same coaches, same ice, same fun. Neither program is boys-only, and no one gets left on the bench.

And as your daughter falls for the game, Storm Girls Hockey gives her a dedicated, all-girls team to grow with — from our youngest skaters through 14U — competing in tournaments and jamborees, with coaching built around her development and the same resources as every EYH program.

Try Hockey for Free FAQ

Who can register for Try Hockey for Free?+
The event is open to students in the DC Everest Area School District, plus kids from any surrounding district that doesn't offer its own youth hockey program. We especially encourage DC Everest families to come give the game a try.
When and where is it?+
Saturday, October 3, 11:30 AM–1:30 PM at the Greenheck Turner Community Center (Greenheck Field House Ice Rink), 6400 Alderson Street, Weston, WI.
How much does it cost?+
Nothing — it's completely free. Just reserve a spot ahead of time (right here on this page) so we can have gear fitted and ready.
What ages is it for?+
Kids ages 4–8 (birth years 2018–2022). It's designed for first-time skaters at the start of their hockey journey.
Does my child need any experience?+
None at all. Most kids at Try Hockey for Free have never been on skates. Our coaches and high-school mentors guide them every step of the way.
Do we need to bring equipment?+
No. Helmet, skates, stick, and pads are all provided and fitted on-site. Please bring warm socks, a base layer to wear under the gear, and a water bottle.
How long does the event take?+
Plan for about two hours total. Arrive 30–45 minutes early for check-in and equipment fitting, then enjoy 45–60 minutes of ice time.
Is it only for boys?+
Not at all — boys and girls are equally welcome. Girls who fall in love with the game also have a home in our Storm Girls Hockey program.
What happens after the event?+
Try Hockey for Free is the front door to Intro to Hockey, our free December–March season with two practices a week — you can register for it right here on this page.
